Abstract

This paper looks at various background data about energy and sustainability related issues in the residential buildings. Particular emphasis is given to climate, location, orientation and other factors aiming at nearly zero energy buildings/Zero Carbon Homes in Europe and particularly in the UK.

The project will examine whether the UK’s proposed standard for Zero Carbon Homes is adequate and appropriate, when and where, under which conditions and setting. It will also assess the model under different location in Europe including the effect of climate chance.

For future climate change predictions the research adopts morphed weather files for the year 20, 50 and 80 for selected cities in Europe.
